民族研究导论(LMC APIDA学习社区)
This course introduces students in the LMC APIDA Learning Community to the foundational
concepts, histories, and frameworks of Ethnic Studies through an intersectional lens.
Centering the experiences and perspectives of Asian American and Pacific Islander
(APIDA) communities, the course explores how race, ethnicity, culture, class, gender,
and migration intersect to shape APIDA identities and experiences within the broader
context of U.S. society. Students will also examine the interconnected struggles and
solidarities among African American/Black, Native American/Indigenous, Chicanx/Xicanx,
and Latinx peoples from the colonial era to the present. Key theories such as Critical
Race Theory, coloniality, double consciousness, colorblind racism, and decolonial
practices will provide conceptual tools to analyze power, resistance, and social justice
within and across communities of color.
课余接触
As part of the LMC APIDA Learning Community experience, students will have opportunities
to participate in co-curricular activities that extend learning beyond the classroom.
These include field trips, career and wellness workshops, counseling/academic advising,
and community-building events designed to deepen cultural awareness, promote academic
success, and support holistic student development. Through these shared experiences,
students will connect classroom concepts to real-world contexts while building community
and leadership within and beyond Los Medanos College. The APIPA Learning Community
is supported through LMC’s Asian American, Desi, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander
(AANHPI) Student Success Program.
